Start with the default workflow

Limin is designed to help teams begin quickly with a simple workflow and add structure only when it becomes useful. You do not need to design a perfect system before creating your first issue.

Create your workspace, add a team and begin working with real issues. Limin’s default statuses, labels and views provide enough structure for most teams to get started.

Avoid customising everything immediately. It is easier to recognise what your team needs after you have completed your first issues.

Add structure when patterns appear

Create a label when the same kind of work appears repeatedly, or to group issues for a project or initiative. For example, infrastructure or release-1.0.

Save a view when you regularly apply the same filters. You might need a view for high-priority bugs, research work or issues awaiting review.

Change your statuses when the existing workflow no longer represents how work actually moves through the team, when your infrastructure or processes evolve.

Keep current work visible

Use statuses to show where work stands and priorities to communicate what deserves attention.

Treat priority as a signal rather than a complete ranking of the backlog. Reserve the highest priorities for work that genuinely requires immediate attention, otherwise they quickly lose their meaning.

Use the Active issues view for work your team is currently considering and keep work that is not ready in the Backlog. This prevents the main board from becoming a storage area for every possible task.

Preserve context between related issues

Blocking relationships are a core feature. This allows you to quickly see which issues are waiting for others to complete.

When completing an issue, add a resolution note in the dedicated field when its outcome will be useful to the person responsible for the blocked issues.

Limin surfaces that resolution automatically to dependent issues, allowing the next person to continue without reconstructing the original discussion.

Evolve deliberately

As your team grows, review its statuses, labels and saved views occasionally. Keep the structures that help people make decisions and remove the ones that have become noise.
