Archive versus delete
Archiving removes an issue from active board views while preserving it as readable history. Deleting removes the issue from normal use and also removes its active relationships.
Use Archive for completed work that should remain available. Use Delete for an issue that should not have existed or must be removed from the team’s working history.
| Behaviour | Archived issue | Deleted issue |
|---|---|---|
| Appears on active boards | No | No |
| Available from Archived issues | Yes | No |
| Can be opened | Yes | Shows a deleted state |
| Can be edited | No | No |
| Keeps readable content | Yes | No |
Archive an issue manually
Open the issue action menu or its board context menu and choose Archive. Limin displays an Undo action for a few seconds.
Archived issues are read-only. Empty sections are hidden, while existing descriptions, resolution notes, comments and relationships remain available.
To find archived work, open a team board’s view menu and choose Archived issues.
Configure automatic archiving
Each team can define the period after which completed issues are automatically archived. Configure it in Settings → Teams → [team] → Auto-archive policy.
Available periods range from one week to one year, with a default set at 2 months. The clock is based on when the issue most recently entered a status in the Done group.
Automatic archiving keeps active views focused without permanently deleting completed work.
Delete an issue
Open the issue or board context menu and choose Delete. The operation takes effect immediately, but Limin gives you the opportunity to revert this action for a few seconds.
Deleting an issue also removes its blocking relationships. Other issues remain intact.
For workflow-wide retention, prefer the team’s automatic archive policy over repeatedly deleting completed issues.
